巴西一間夜店，昨天湧入超過兩千人狂歡，大部分都是即將開學的大學生。沒想到卻因為室內意外起火，加上唯一的出入口，還在事發後被堵住15分鐘，致命濃煙加上人潮推擠，竟然奪走了至少233條人命，也演變成十年來，全球死傷最慘的夜店火災。
27號，巴西東南部的大學城聖瑪莉亞裡的夜店”Kiss”發生大火災，本只能容納一千人，卻擠進兩千多名年輕人，沒想到，其中2百多人就此命喪火場。
因為死者實在太多，政府臨時動用這間體育館，讓家屬認領遺體。

警方表示，疑似是夜店請來的搖滾樂團，在室內進行煙火特技表演，卻不慎走火，還向上延燒到屋頂泡綿。致命濃煙迅速瀰漫，令人窒息，加上人群在恐慌之下，互相推擠踩踏，死傷數字快速上升。
更慘的是，夜店正門，竟是唯一的出入口，由於門外保鏢搞不清楚狀況，以為有人喝酒不付錢，火災爆發後還硬是擋門長達15分鐘，造成更多人來不及逃生。消防員一度用鐵鎚和斧頭，破壞外牆，鑿開一條救難通道。
這場十年來全球最慘夜店火災，讓無數家庭破碎，大部分死者，都在18到25歲之間。
Authorities continue to search for the cause of a nightclub fire in Brazil that killed at least 233 people. It was the world’s deadliest nightclub fire in over a decade.
Yesterday a fire at Kiss nightclub in the Brazilian city of Santa Marie was the scene of a chilling disaster. The nightclub’s capacity was 1,000 people though more than 2,000 managed to squeeze in. Overcrowding was partially to blame for the deaths of more than 200 people.
Due to the large number of dead, the government used a nearby sports center for family members to identify and claim the bodies.
“I feel very sad, because my son is gone.”
Police said the nightclub invited a rock band that may have used fireworks as part of its performance, setting off the deadly blaze. The fire quickly spread to the foam soundproofing on the ceiling as deadly smoke filled the room, suffocating many. A panicked crowd stampeded to the exits, leading to more casualties.
Some believe that bodyguards at the nightclub’s only entrance and exit may have prevented people from leaving to ensure they would pay their bill. While the fire lasted for just 15 minutes, many could not find the exits. Firefighters tried to dismantle an exterior wall to rescue those inside.
Most of the dead were between the ages of 18 and 25.
