總統聖文森

馬總統賀誼之旅，到邦交國聖文森，參觀植物園外，也主持由台灣援助的橋樑通車典禮，還視察了新機場航站大廈。

參訪有兩百四十八年歷史的聖文森植物園，馬總統親自種下一顆蓮霧樹，而植物園長曾拿台灣的獎學金，畢業於台中的中興大學，中文相當流利。

台灣除了提供獎學金，讓聖文森學生出國念書，更協助他們造橋鋪路。

特地把通橋儀式，留給來訪的馬總統，尤其這座橋，就在總理龔薩福的老家旁邊，讓他對台灣充滿感激。

不但幫忙蓋聖文森新的國際機場，航站大廈也是台灣承包興建，預計年底就可以完工。

President Ma visits St. Vincent and Grenadines on diplomatic tour. (2013/08/18)

President Ma continued his diplomatic tour with a visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. His itinerary included visits to a botanical garden and major infrastructure projects built with Taiwan aid, such as a newly opened bridge and ongoing work on an international airport.

Ma visited a 248 year old botanical garden where he personally planted a wax apple tree. The director of this botanical garden, Gordon Shallow, was the recipient of a scholarship from Taiwan, graduating from National Chung Hsing University in Taichung and speaking Mandarin Chinese fluently.

Taiwan has not only provided scholarships for local St. Vincent students, giving them the chance to study abroad, but has also helped with infrastructure projects such as an actual bridge.

A special bridge opening ceremony was attended by President Ma and St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, who expressed his sincere gratitude for Taiwan’s contribution

Taiwan’s assistance in the construction of a new international airport which is being carried out by a Taiwanese subcontractor and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
