大埔佔內政

聲援大埔居民的群眾昨晚佔據內政部大門後，今天到晚間六點前仍死守不退，正在出訪的馬總統終於表態，認為這是地方政府的權責，但也會請內政部處理。不過民眾對總統卸責的說法不以為然，甚至內政部次長蕭家淇代表出面協調時，還被波水洩憤。

經過一整夜抗爭，聲援大埔居民的民眾死守內政部大門。面對情勢不斷升溫，正在出訪的馬總統，隔海喊話。

“他基本上是苗栗縣政府的行政決定。昨天我跟江(宜樺)院長有通過電話 他也會請內政部妥適來處理，應該由哪一個層級政府來負責的，就應該由那個政府負責，我想這樣的一個分際必須要做好”

內政部次長蕭家淇上午11點鐘，代表政府出面協調，卻無法平息民眾怒火，還冷不防被水襲擊。

蕭家淇話還沒講完就被轟回去。抗議民眾對總統把責任推給地方政府的說法，更是不滿，強調三年前政府曾經承諾保留。

儘管決定晚間六點撤守，台灣農村陣線早已派律師到最高檢察署，按鈴控告苗栗縣長劉政鴻圖利罪，打算長期抗戰。

President Ma calls Dapu land expropriation a local government issue (2013/08/19)

President Ma Ying-jeou has expressed concern over ongoing land expropriation protests. Ma urged the premier to resolve anger over the Dapu issue, yet at the same time reiterated that it is primarily a local issue decided by the Miaoli County government. 

An overnight protest showed solidarity with Dapu families who saw their residences demolished to pave the way for an industrial development project. Today, a number of protestors continued demonstrating outside the Ministry of the Interior. As the topic drew media attention and public support, President Ma was given little choice but to comment.

In principle, it’s a policy issue for the Miaoli County government to decide. Yesterday, I spoke with Premier Jiang (Yi-huah) by phone, and he said he would ask the Ministry of the Interior to deal with the situation. I think it’s important that the level of government responsible for the issue resolves it. 

Deputy Interior Minister Hsiao Chia-chi attempted to speak with protestors, though he was quickly doused with water.

Hsiao had to retreat. Protestors were enraged that President Ma continues to delegate responsibility for the situation back to the local government. They reiterated the Ma administration’s pledge from three years ago that dwellings on the land could remain.

Three years ago, the Ministry of the Interior and the former premier clearly committed to this, and now you’re blaming the Miaoli County government?

Today’s protest ended at 6 pm, though the battle continues. The Taiwan Rural Front sent lawyers to the Taiwan Supreme Prosecutors Office to file a suit against Miaoli County Commissioner Liu Cheng-hung over alleged illegal development deals.
