中國華為公司生產的手機和行動網卡，因為牽扯監聽的爭議，美國、澳洲和印度政府都表明拒用，但我國卻是總統府帶頭，自己就用了六支網卡！經過立法院連日逼問，總統府秘書長楊進添終於表態，要求政府各部會停用華為產品。

中國華為公司生產的手機和行動網卡，已經全面進入台灣市場販售，但現在引發可能被監聽的爭議。

由於華為公司執行長任正非，背景不單純，中國解放軍上校退伍，接受中國軍方無償資助，積極發展電信設備。美國、澳洲、印度等國家憂心遭竊聽，都已表明拒用華為產品。

但最近傳出，從總統府，到行政院各部會，都使用了中華電信代銷華為的智慧型手機，以及行動網卡，引發立委對資訊安全的疑慮。

最根本之計，就是主管機關要通令全國公務機關特別謹慎，不能採用中國大陸華為的產品。

在立法院要求下，總統府秘書長終於表態，要求各部會不得再使用華為產品。

Due in part to success and the opaque nature of its organization, much fear surrounds the Chinese telecom-equipment maker Huawei. Several governments ban it, though somewhat surprisingly, for years the same caution wasn’t exercised in Taiwan. Today the Presidential Office sought to dispel fears by saying that it asked government agencies to stop using Huawei products. 

Handsets and mobile internet cards manufactured by China’s Huawei Technologies have already penetrated the Taiwan market, sparking fears that China could be wiretapping users in Taiwan.

The company’s CEO, Ren Zhengfei, once served as an officer in the People’s Liberation Army. He took free subsidies to develop the telecommunications industry. Fearful that China could bug equipment, the United States, Australia and India partially banned the company.

But the same caution hasn’t been present in Taiwan. Reports say that the Presidential Office and executive agencies have used mobile phones and internet cards produced by Huawei and furnished by Chunghwa Telecom. Some lawmakers demanded a ban, and the government agreed to comply.

At the very least, supervisory agencies should urge extra caution among public service agencies and tell them not to use products from Mainland China’s Huawei.

For many lawmakers, this action is long overdue.
