台北科技大學光電系教授與學生,研發出超高速率的可見光無線網路,速度是4G的一百倍,下載一部90分鐘的電影不到0.5杪,現在已經有廠商洽談技術轉移。

一身筋肉人裝扮站在舞台,雷射激光來回閃爍,聲光效果震撼人心,雷射不只用來表演,現在北科大研發雷射光超高速無線網路,下載4.5G容量的電影不到一秒。

“紅光雷射光被我遮住了,遮住的同時,我們看到螢幕上畫面不見了,眼圖測試上的眼圖也不見了,我現在再把這個白紙給抽掉,抽掉的瞬間,我就看到了影像我就看到這個眼圖”

但不同於現行無線訊號,可以隨處接收。可見光傳輸,怕雨滴造成折射,所以只能裝在室內,使用者也必須要在能看的到訊號傳輸機的地方,才能使用。

A Taipei research team has developed a new kind of visible laser wireless internet technology that can transmit information at ultra-fast speeds. The researchers say it is up to 100 times faster than the latest 4G technology. 

Besides performance art like that seen here, there are many uses for lasers. Researchers at National Taipei University of Technology spent three years and more than NT$20 million to develop ultra-fast wireless internet that relies on visible laser light. It takes less than a second to download a film requiring 4.5 gigabytes of memory.

When I block the red laser, you can see that the image on the screen and the eye diagram disappear. The instant I remove this paper, the image and the eye diagram return.

Current wireless technology can be received in a variety of settings, but visible laser light transmission is refracted by raindrops. This means it is only suited to indoor environments. Users also have to be in sight of signal transmitters.
