Eating tomatoes may lower the risk of prostate cancer, research suggests. Men who consume more than 10 portions of tomatoes each week reduce their risk by about 20%, according to a UK study. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide, with 35,000 new cases and around 10,000 deaths in the UK every year.

 

研究顯示,吃番茄或能降低罹患攝護腺癌的風險。根據一份英國研究,每週吃10份以上番茄的男性,可降低約20%的罹癌風險。攝護腺癌是全球男性第二常見的癌症,英國每年有35000個新增病例,約1萬人因此喪生。

 

Cancer experts recommend eating a balanced diet which is high in fruit and vegetables and low in red and processed meat, fat and salt.

 

癌症專家建議均衡飲食,即多蔬果、少紅肉與加工肉品、少脂肪、少鹽。

 

The Bristol team analysed the diets and lifestyles of around 20,000 British men aged between 50 and 69. They found men who consumed more than 10 portions of tomatoes each week - such as fresh tomatoes, and tomato juice - saw an 18% reduction in prostate cancer risk.

 

這支布里斯托研究團隊,分析約2萬名5069歲英國男性的飲食與生活型態。他們發現,每週攝取10份以上番茄的男性,例如新鮮番茄與番茄汁,罹患攝護腺癌的風險降低18%。

 

Eating the recommended five servings of fruit or vegetables or more a day was also found to decrease risk by 24%, compared with men who ate two-and-a-half servings or less.

 

每天攝取建議量5份以上蔬果的男性,也被發現可比每天吃2份半蔬果以下的男性減少24%罹癌風險。
