Modern PIs are less concerned about criminals and more interested in cheating spouses and corrupt investors. As a result, PIs are typically asked to follow people of interest for a brief period of time until they have collected enough evidence. Most PIs will employ a variety of methods, such as using hidden microphones and cameras, researching legal documents, and even going undercover. There have even been a few examples of foreign governments hiring PIs to chase after terrorists.
