A large elephant seal took a wrong turn and was seen lumbering along a street in a coastal town in South Africa early Tuesday, surprising residents and inspiring a rescue effort to get him back to sea.

Authorities in the second-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, Osh, have removed a towering statue of Vladimir Lenin thought to be the tallest of the revolutionary Soviet leader in Central Asia.

The 23-meter (75-foot) monument was erected in 1975 when Kyrgyzstan was part of the Soviet Union. Photos appeared online Saturday showing the statue flat on the ground after being lowered by a crane.

Britain’s King Charles III is to feature in a new Amazon documentary, in which he is expected to highlight his environmental charity work and "philosophy of harmony", the Press Association reported Saturday.

About 700 animals － from elephants and crocodiles, to lions and tigers － have been moved from a sanctuary in northwest Mexico to a ranch on the coast due to threats and violence from criminal gangs, refuge administrators said.

Japanese companies have agreed to raise wages by more than 5% for a second year in a row this year, the country’s largest union umbrella group said on Friday.

An emergency team said they had rescued an injured Italian caver trapped underground for four days － the second time the woman has had to be carried out of the same cave.
