Vincent van Gogh was born in Holland in 1853. His large family was very religious, and when he was young, Vincent hoped to be a priest. As he grew older, he often became very emotional and found it difficult to make friends. He worked briefly in a bookstore, sold art for a while, but the result was always the same—his friends, neighbors, and coworkers thought he was crazy.
