In 1955, Dick Bruna, a Dutch artist, took his one-year-old baby boy to play in the sand near their home in the Netherlands. While they were there, they saw hundreds of playful rabbits. When they returned home, the father drew a cute picture of one of the bunnies, named her Miffy, and made up a story to tell his son. Since then, Miffy has become a world-famous character. She has been featured in over 30 storybooks, a TV series, and a feature film.
Her image is also seen on everything from clothes to lunchboxes.
