Hugo Xavier became one of the first people to cross the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge when it opened near his tiny hometown of Arouca in northern Portugal.

"Oh...here we go!," the 42-year-old said anxiously as he gathered enough courage to step onto the see-through metal grid pathway of the 516-metre-long bridge alongside his equally jittery partner and a tour guide.

Berlin public transport operator BVG will stop using the German term "schwarzfahren" （or "blackriding"） to describe travelling without a valid ticket, it said on Friday.

柏林大眾運輸業者「柏林公共運輸公司」週五表示，將停止使用德文字彙「搭黑車」，來形容未持有效票搭車。

The decision to discontinue using the expression, which is common in colloquial speech, implements a recommendation from the Berlin Senate’s diversity programme, a spokesperson told broadcaster rbb.

The operator had only used it once in print, in a poster campaign, and would in future refer to the practice as "travelling without a ticket," the spokesperson added.

A taxi company in St. Louis, Missouri, is turning away customers vaccinated against COVID-19 and barred the use of face masks inside his cars.

密蘇里州聖路易市一家計程車行拒載接種過COVID-19疫苗的顧客，車內也禁止戴口罩。

"We don’t allow any type of masks in our vehicles," Charlie Bullington, the owner of Yo Transportation, told KMOV. "The second one is we are very against the vaccine and don’t allow people in our vehicle that did get the vaccine."

「我們車內禁戴任何款式的口罩」，Yo Transportation公司的老闆查爾斯‧布林頓告訴KMOV電視台：「再者，我們堅決反對疫苗，不希望我們的車上有打過疫苗的乘客。」

Bullington’s decision came after he read websites touting baseless conspiracy theories that the vaccine is not safe and that face masks are not effective and spread "germs," the outlet reported.

The authorities in Arizona accused a man of going to extreme lengths to get out of work this month, saying he faked his own kidnapping, bound his own wrists, gagged himself and invented a story of treasure hidden in the desert.

（美國）亞利桑那州當局指控，一名男子本月為了逃避工作無所不用其極，指稱此人假裝自己被綁架、自縛雙手、以物塞口，以及編故事說沙漠裡有寶藏。

The man, Brandon Soules, was arrested last week on a charge of false reporting to law enforcement, the police in Coolidge, Ariz., said in a statement that outlined a scheme they believe was intended to get Mr. Soules excused from his job at a tire store.

亞利桑那州柯立芝警方在一份聲明中，描述這個他們相信是為了逃避去輪胎行上班的計畫，這個名叫布蘭登‧索爾斯的男子，上週被控向執法人員謊報而遭逮捕。

In the statement, the police said that Mr. Soules, 19, admitted during an interview with detectives that he had made up the kidnapping story, which led to his arrest.

Most of the 28 elephants at the center suffer from chronic illness and various ailments ranging from abscesses, cataracts, blindness and joint pain, the result of years of abuse in captivity.
