A tourist swimming in a river in Australia has had a shock after a crocodile leapt onto him, slapping him in the face in the process.

The reptile had been sunning itself on a rock in a national park in the Northern Territory but then seemed to want to cool off.

The animal launched itself directly at Swedish tourist Felix Andersson, hitting him in the face before landing in the water.

Mr Andersson and his friend Ulrik Bergsland quickly swam away laughing and were not hurt in the incident.

In fact the pair were so unfazed they carried on swimming in the lagoon.

Owning a smartphone may not be as smart as you think.

They may let you surf the internet, listen to music and snap photos wherever you are…but they also turn you into a workaholic, it seems.

A study suggests that, by giving you access to emails at all times, the all-singing, all-dancing mobile phone adds as much as two hours to your working day.

Researchers found that Britons work an additional 460 hours a year on average as they are able to respond to emails on their mobiles.

The study by technology retailer Pixmania, reveals the average UK working day is between 9 and 10 hours, but a further two hours is spent responding to or sending work emails, or making work calls.

A woman who was injured while having sex in a Autralian hotel during a work trip has won the latest round in her legal battle for industrial compensation.

The woman, who was a public servant, was hospitalized after being injured in 2007 during sex with a male friend while staying in a motel in the town of Nowra.

She suffered injuries to her nose and mouth when a light fitting above the bed was ripped from its mount and landed on her face.

Her claim for worker’s compensation for her physical and psychological injuries was initially approved by government insurer Comcare, then rejected after further investigation.

Comcare claimed the injuries were not suffered in the course of her employment, and they were therefore not required to pay any damages. They argued the government had not induced or encouraged the woman’s sexual conduct.

A Swedish cleaning lady on Tuesday commandeered an empty Stockholm commuter train, which careered off the tracks when it reached the end of the line and smashed into a block of flats, police said.

The woman’s condition was "serious but stable", Stockholm police spokesman Lars Bystroem said. She was detained on suspicion of destroying public property, a crime punishable by up to eight years in jail.

The train slammed into a three-storey building in the upscale Saltsjoebaden neighbourhood. It was unclear why the woman stole the train from a Stockholm depot. "The train was wrecked," Stockholm Public Transport spokesman Jesper Pettersson said.

Travelling at 80 kilometres per hour, it bolted off the tracks when it reached the end of the line and hurtled 25 metres in the snow before crashing to a final halt.

The woman, born in 1990, had worked for a cleaning company contracted by the transport group "for a few months, with good results," Arriva spokesman Tomas Hedenius said.
