eTag頻出包，最近退租人數暴增1倍，10天破1萬人，遠東集團董事長徐旭東今天首度針對扣款異常道歉，不過，他又強調出錯比例很低，還說「你喜歡退你就退」。引發交通部不滿，次長陳純敬說，無法接受這種情緒性的發言，覺得道歉像在耍賴。

我抱歉有這麼一點的不對，但是我一定努力再改進，但是比例上不要抓了，這麼一點點，我現在只能夠說，拜託同情我一下好不好，我們花這麼大功夫，來做成全世界第一個計程的。
徐旭東要大家同情他，還說如果消費者不滿意，可以退用，對於這樣的道歉，交通部直言，無法接受。

我們還是不能接受這種情緒性的發言，你自己提供的服務不好，反而叫老百姓說那你就不要裝，我想這個是不對的，他是不是(道歉)用的方式好像不太理想，反而好像讓人家認為，你又在耍賴的感覺。
儘管徐旭東認為只是一點點錯誤，但這十天來已有上萬人退租。
用路人對eTag失去信心，網路發起「225萬人退租，停掉eTag」活動，引發熱烈迴響，不過高公局說，契約裡根本沒規定，上路後未達利用率65%可以解約。

An apology that is widely perceived as half-hearted has further diminished faith in the eTag freeway toll collection system. Far Eastern Group Chairman Douglas Hsu apologized four times for billing errors that have accompanied the launch of fully automated toll collection in Taiwan. He then followed his apology by telling dissatisfied customers to return their eTags, angering the Ministry of Transportation.
When the chairman of Far Eastern Group apologized today, he stressed that the eTag system is generally stable.

I apologize. These are minor errors, but I will definitely work harder to make improvements. But I ask that people don’t continue to focus on such a small percentage of cases. All I can say now is please show some sympathy for me. We have worked hard to create the world’s first fully automated toll system that is based on distance traveled.
Hsu’s Far Eastern Group oversees Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection, which operates eTag. The apology elicited an immediate response from the Ministry of Transportation.

We cannot accept this kind of emotional statement. I think it’s wrong to do a bad job then tell people not to install your system. This apology seems inappropriate and shameless.
Over the past 10 days, upwards of 10,000 people have returned eTags.
The loss of confidence is manifested in an online movement to stop the system. The movement claims that if 2.25 million motorists refund their eTags, the National Freeway Bureau can terminate its contract with Far Eastern. The bureau, however, denies this.
