台北市捷運公司打算與Hello Kitty合作，除了會賣Hello Kitty週邊商品外，也不排除打造Hello Kitty纜車，來搶更多人氣。

原因是台北貓空纜車，從民國99年復駛後，雖然有許多民眾搭乘，但因為貓纜維修費用過高，導致入不敷出，年年虧損，因此才想出此策略。

The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation plans to sell Hello Kitty souvenirs in MRT shops. It also is considering introducing Hello Kitty themed cabins on the Maokong Gondola. 

The corporation hopes the Japanese character provides a financial boost to the gondola after the system operated in the red every year since reopening in 2010. Losses are attributed to high repair costs.

亞洲天團五月天，明年將展開成軍以來、第一次歐洲巡迴演唱，昨天五位團員在倫敦舉行記者會，包括BBC、美聯社等近兩百家國內外媒體擠爆會場，記者會還因此延遲。此外，五月天於記者會前也接受BBC的訪問，成為首位登上BBC的華人樂團。

去年啟航的五月天【諾亞方舟】巡迴演唱會，終於駛離亞洲。海外巡迴第一站，就選在天團的偶像”披頭四”的故鄉英國。

昨日這場在倫敦150年歷史的朗廷飯店舉行的記者會，透過YouTube直播時，還一度造成網路塞機，讓外媒見識到這個【亞洲披頭四】的超人氣。

五月天的歐洲巡迴，將從明年2月，於英國溫布利體育館首演，之後還將開拔到美日韓，40個城市。

Taiwanese rock band Mayday is raising its international profile ahead of an upcoming world tour. The band spoke to the BBC about its hope to become The Beatles of the Chinese-speaking world. 

Mayday’s “Noah's Ark” tour, which began last year, has finally left Asia. The first stop outside the region was England, home of The Beatles.

Yesterday in London, this 150-year old Langham London Hotel hosted a press conference which was also broadcast live on YouTube. Heavy network traffic gave foreign media some indication of the popularity of a band that has been billed the “Asian Beatles.”

Maybe you know that Mayday love The Beatles very much and have many influences by Beatles, so some of the American newspapers say that we are the Beatles in Asia. We feel very honored.

Mayday’s European tour will begin next February with a concert at Wembley Stadium, later going to 40 cities in the US, Japan and Korea.

受到出口和內需不振雙重打擊，台灣經濟研究院今天宣布下修今年GDP到1.93%，成為國內首家預測今年GDP無法保二的研究機構。

小吃店老闆準備辣椒等食材，每個步驟小心翼翼，景氣已經夠差了，沒想到現在又來個食安風暴。

“塑化劑啊，然後澱粉也出問題，到現在油又出問題，一直連環爆，所以消費者信心整個崩潰掉，對我們影響真的是滿大的”

百貨公司人潮稀稀落落，百貨周年慶，買氣就跟天氣一樣，熱不起來。

內需不振，加上出口數字直直落，原本還信心滿滿，預估全年經濟成長率3%沒問題的台經院，宣布今年GDP下修到1.93%，成為所有研究機構中，第一個預測保二破功的機構。

“台灣是個看人臉色的應變數，貿易在我們今年前九個月，表現起伏波動非常大，第二就是投資，上半年投資還滿旺的，下半年就掉下來”

不過，台經院看好明年全球景氣復甦，GDP預測可以達到3.11%。

The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research has become the first major organization to predict that Taiwan will fail to achieve 2 percent growth this year. Today it cited weak exports and investments when cutting its GDP growth forecast to 1.93 percent. 

The owner of this restaurant carefully prepares chilies and other foods. One challenge for his business is the anemic economy, and another is the recent edible oil scandal.

There was the plasticizer problem then starch. Now it’s edible oil. One scandal comes after another, ruining consumer confidence. It has a major impact on us.

In department stores customers are few. Buying sentiment is as chilly as the weather.

Sluggish domestic demand and falling exports have caused TIER to drop its earlier year-long growth forecast from at least 3 percent to just 1.93 percent. Among all major institutions, it is the first to predict that Taiwan will fail to achieve 2 percent growth.

Taiwan is dependent on other nations. Over the first nine months of the year, trade fluctuated wildly. Second are investments. These were strong over the first half of the year but then fell over the second half.

For 2014, TIER predicts growth of 3.11 percent.

我國陸軍向美國購買的"阿帕契"攻擊直升機，第一批6架，這兩天在高雄港79號碼頭就地組裝後，有兩架在下午立刻試飛，在眾多船舶的高雄港區，竟然也出現難得的攻擊直升機盤旋的精彩畫面。

美國陸軍的主力武裝直升機 , 組裝完成 ,在高雄港碼頭 ,待命升空。

下午一點多 , 第一架阿帕契直升機主旋翼啟動 , 在高雄港七十九號碼頭 ,現地起飛.這種畫面,非常罕見.順利環飛了九分二十秒才緩緩降落。

“從一系列的清點驗收下架組裝, 到地面系統測試, 目前狀況都非常好, 非常順利, 而且進度也都超前, 所以狀況許可的話, 我們在七號可以把這第一梯次的組裝任務, 全部都完成”

今天先行試飛成功的兩架阿帕契直升機, 也在下午直接飛往台南歸仁基地。全部共六架新機，本週四將對外正式亮相, 預計明年7月前成軍服役。

Two Apache attack helicopters completed assembly and took off from Kaohsiung Harbor’s Pier 79 today. The helicopters are part of a larger initial shipment that will be officially unveiled later this week. 

It was final assembly and lift off for the US Army's main attack helicopter today at Kaohsiung Harbor.

Around one o'clock this afternoon, rotors of this Apache helicopter began spinning at Kaohsiung Harbor’s Pier 79. The chopper soon took off, a rare sight lasting just over nine minutes.

From a series of inventory checks to assembly and even ground testing, everything went smoothly. We are ahead of schedule, and, depending upon other conditions, the assembly of the first batch of (Apaches) can be fully completed by Nov. 7.

After the successful flight test, these two Apache helicopters flew directly to Tainan’s Guiren Base. An official unveiling is planned for Thursday and the aircraft are expected to go into service by July.

食安風波擴大，不少GMP認證過的油品大廠，像是頂新、福懋都中箭落馬，GMP認證破功，經濟部允諾，會提出改革的方案。 

混充油品風暴擴大，經濟部緊急宣布將撤銷福懋和味全油品的GMP認證資格，及標誌的使用權。

經濟部也亡羊補牢，決定將採"全廠全產品"的認證方式，單一工廠同類別產品，將全數認證，才能拿到GMP的資格。

這些大廠商基本上，基本上它們都從它們很多品項當中，選擇幾樣然後去得到GMP認證， 就大大放著微笑的標章，讓民眾誤以為這是"全廠全產品"GMP都被認證。

也因為這一次真的是有一些廠商，只有認證了幾個產品，但是會引起民眾、消費者的誤導，所以這是第一點我們將來的方向上，最重要是"全廠全產品"認證，重質不重量。

經濟部允諾，要在一個半月完成GMP認證的改革。

Good Manufacturing Practice is a set of guidelines meant to ensure consumers that the products they use and consume are safe. The government concedes that major reforms are needed after products certified under the GMP system were shown to be tainted or adulterated in the edible oil scandal. 

The government’s GMP standards are being revisited in the face of the oil scandal. First, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that both Formosa Oilseed and Wei Chuan would lose certification and have to remove the GMP logo from the labels of oil products.

Next, it will introduce stricter rules at other companies. It will take an all-or-nothing approach toward certification, meaning all products of a certain category must meet GMP standards for any to be certified.

Generally speaking, these large factories select a few products then seek GMP certification. They prominently display the smiling GMP logo, fooling people into thinking that all their products are certified.

In this case there were a few factories that, after certifying a couple products, deceived consumers. So our first strategy will be to require that all items in a factory’s product line meet requirements for any to be certified. We will emphasize quality, not quantity.

The ministry promises reforms to GMP certification within the next month and a half.
