林益世宣判

前行政院秘書長林益世涉貪，向陳啟祥收賄6300萬，特偵組以違背職務收賄等四罪將他起訴，最高可判無期徒刑，而林益世一家更有五個人列為被告，而台北地院今天下午一審宣判，法官認定6300萬是公務員恐嚇取財，另涉犯財產不明來源罪，判刑7年4月，其於相關眷屬，通通無罪。

就在宣判前一刻，林世益和妻子彭愛佳步出家門，前往律師事務所等待判決結果。

“被告林益世的貪污行為，不該當於貪污條例裡面的貪污行為，但是他有利用他的職權，利用職務上的權利跟機會，犯了恐嚇得利”

一審宣判，認定林益世幫爐渣業者陳啟祥喬合約，向中鋼、中聯施壓所收取6300萬不是檢方起訴的貪污所得，而是公務員恐嚇取財，判刑5年6月，另外涉犯財產不明來源罪判刑2年，合併7年4個月，褫奪公權5年，罰金1580萬，已查扣的部份則沒收。

“法院還是做成部分有罪的判決，在辯護人的立場感到遺憾，就這一部分有罪的部分會研究提起上訴”

法官認為林益世不涉及貪污，連帶的讓母親沈若蘭的共同收賄、妻子彭愛佳以及2位舅舅的洗錢罪等，通通被判無罪。也讓綠營不能接受。

對照當初檢方在結辯庭以「豺狼當道」痛批林益世惡劣，求處無期徒刑，如今一審結果出爐，檢方表明將提出上訴。

Opposition party says sentence for former Cabinet official falls short of expectations (2013/04/30)

Prosecutors had sought a life sentence for a former KMT Cabinet official accused of extorting bribes and jail terms for four of his family members accused of related crimes. On Tuesday Lin Yi-shih was found guilty of lesser crimes and sentenced to seven years, four months. The other defendants were found not guilty. 

On Tuesday afternoon Lin Yi-shih and his wife Peng Ai-chia left their home to go to their lawyers’ office. It was there they heard the verdict.

The corrupt acts carried out by the defendant Lin Yi-shih do not meet the conditions for corruption contained in the Anti-Corruption Act. But he did take advantage of his authority, using the rights and opportunities afforded to him by his position, to profit through menacing actions.

富士山申遺

日本政府去年向聯合國教科文組織申請，將富士山列為世界文化遺產，現在傳來了好消息。

相關諮詢機關提出意見指出，富士山符合列入世界遺產資格，最快6月就可列入世界遺產。

World Heritage Site (2013/05/01)

The Japanese government says that UNESCO plans to approve its application to list Mount Fuji as a World Heritage site. 

An advisory panel recommended that Mount Fuji be granted this prestigious honor. A final decision will be made when the World Heritage Committee meets, with official registration occurring as early as next month.

陳彥博出發

超馬選手陳彥博，今天出發前往澳洲，參加520公里內陸超馬橫越賽，而這也是陳彥博五年挑戰七大洲八大賽的最後一站賽程。

由於距離上回育空馬拉松只有兩個月的休息時間，陳彥博坦承體力還沒完全恢復，這次挑戰對他來說很艱難，但仍會盡力跑到終點。

Ultra Marathoner (2013/05/01)

Taiwanese ultra marathoner Tommy Chen departed for Australia on Wednesday to participate in a grueling 520-kilometer race. The competition takes on special significance as it’s the final leg of a personal five-year challenge, for Chen to run eight major races on seven continents. 

Just two months have passed since the Yukon Arctic Ultra Marathon, and Chen admits he has yet to fully recover. Still, he hopes to give it his all and persevere to accomplish this incredible goal.

張盛和報稅
今天五月一日是申報所得稅的第一天，不少民眾趕著第一天報稅，財政部長張盛和也特別到國稅局了解報稅狀況，他表示凌晨二點就有四千多筆在網路上完成報稅，而今年因為有軍、教納入報稅，因此今年所得稅稅額目標，應該可以達到！

媽媽嘴開幕
今年三月，媽媽嘴咖啡店因為捲入八里雙屍命案，一度被檢警封鎖列為刑案現場，直到3月底，排除咖啡店負責人呂炳宏等人犯罪嫌疑，終於將咖啡店解除封鎖，咖啡店也在今天重新開幕，現場湧入大批民眾。

建仔完投勝
等待重返大聯盟的王建民，今天放棄月底可以使用的逃脫條款，繼續留在洋基3A出賽，他在客場出戰白襪3A的夏洛特騎士隊，王建民又投出七局僅失一分的精彩好球，不但控球精準，而且滾飛比高達12:4，完全展現出伸卡球的威力，王建民也拿下第二勝。

Finance Minister Speaks
Today is May 1, the first day that people can file their income tax for the past year. Finance Minister Chang Sheng-ford paid a special visit to the National Taxation Bureau to survey the scene. He noted that at 2 am more than 4,000 people had already completed their online tax filing. He said that the decision to require military servicemen and teachers to pay taxes will allow the bureau to reach its taxation target.

Troubled Cafe Re-opens
In March this year the boss of New Taipei’s Mommouth Coffee Shop, Lu Ping-hung, was suspected of involvement in a double murder case. Prosecutors closed the Bali County cafe to carry out a crime scene investigation that lasted till the end of March. After the cafe’s manager confessed to the murder, Lu was absolved of any involvement and was free to re-open the coffee shop. A large crowd of customers was on hand Wednesday as the cafe resumed normal operations. 

Wang’s Return
Wang Chien-ming is continuing his quest to return to the major leagues, pitching another Triple A game against the White Sox affiliate, the Charlotte Knights. Wang went seven innings giving up only one run. He had excellent control and his ground ball to fly ball ratio was 12:4. More importantly, his powerful sinker was working well as he earned his second win.

Eight beautiful women appeared at Kaohsiung City Council on Wednesday for a traffic safety campaign. They were led by Miss Motors International 2012.

People are driving with more respect than in my country, so I think it’s better actually.

The women supported a local anti-drunk driving campaign. Each shared personal experiences to discuss the risks of drunk driving, hoping to inspire others to follow the law.
