Retailers of organic foodstuffs are experiencing a bonanza. Sales of organic foods have increased by 30 percent and more with items such as cucumber with alleged detoxification properties selling like hotcakes as consumers try to protect themselves.
With consumers everywhere unwilling to eat out due to the fear of plasticizers in food, many have turned their attention to organic fruit and vegetables.
Orders have been flowing in so thick and fast that this store has sold out of cucumbers and tomatoes. In another community-based organic store sales have increased significantly since the plasticizer scandal broke.

Fruit and vegetable (sales) have increased about 30 percent. Originally, we would only order supplies once a week. Now it’s two or three times a week.
Well known for its detoxification qualities cucumbers have been in short supply recently. The public is not only afraid of buying food tainted with plasticizers, organic fruit and vegetables that help detoxification have become the hottest items.

To protect themselves, consumers are prepared to spend a little more. Generally speaking, organic foods are more expensive by at least 30 percent and some items are twice the regular price but consumers are saying that good health is priceless.
