US President Barack Obama repeatedly called British finance minister George Osborne "Jeffrey" at the G8 summit, media reported on Thursday.

The US president said three times that he agreed fully with "Jeffrey" during his presentation on G8 host Britain’s plans to crack down on tax avoidance, leaving Osborne red-faced.

歐巴馬在高峰會上談到地主國英國打擊逃漏稅的計畫時，共說了3次他完全贊同「傑佛瑞」的主張，讓歐斯本尷尬得臉都紅了。

Realising his blunder afterwards, Obama joked that he had mistaken Britain’s chancellor for the US soul singer Jeffrey Osborne, The Sun and the Financial Times reported.

英國「太陽報」和「金融時報」報導，歐巴馬事後發現自己口誤， 開玩笑地表示，他將這位英國大臣和美國靈魂歌手傑佛瑞．奧斯朋給搞混了。

"I’m sorry, man. I must have confused you with my favourite R and B singer," Obama was quoted as saying.

The chancellor, 42, bears little resemblance to Jeffrey Osborne, a 65-year-old African-American hit singer-songwriter known for his 1982 classic "On the Wings of Love".

A U.S. Christian group that once promoted therapy to encourage gays and lesbians to overcome their sexual preferences has closed its doors and apologized to those who underwent treatment, acknowledging its mission had been hurtful and ignorant.

Exodus International billed itself as the oldest and largest Christian ministry dealing with faith and homosexuality, operating since 1976.

The Irvine, California-based group’s board unanimously voted to cease operations, Exodus International said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

"We have made a number of mistakes with how we treated people, based on our beliefs," President Alan Chambers said. "I recognize that our beliefs have to change, but I’d never distance myself from the church."

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is tapping his friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to ask for the release of a Korean-American man sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in the North.

The price of fame can be high with an international study finding that people who enjoy successful entertainment or sporting careers tend to die younger.

Researchers Richard Epstein and Catherine Epstein said the study, based on analysing 1,000 New York Times obituaries from 2009-2011, found film, music, stage performers and sports people died at an average age of 77.2 years.

The Australian-based researchers said these earlier deaths could indicate that performers and sports stars took more risks in life, either to reach their goals or due to their success.
