There are many who consider Stephen King the best horror writer of all time. In the 40 years since his first novel, Carrie , the American author has seen success after success. In addition, he has received numerous horror and fantasy awards and even one from the Mystery Writers of America. Many of his books and novellas have been adapted for movies and television over the years. King even sometimes makes brief appearances in the films made from his work. Millionaire Jason Buzi has launched a social media treasure hunt in San Francisco. Participants follow clues posted by Buzi under the Twitter handle @HiddenCash in hopes of locating one of the many hidden cash drops spread throughout the city. Such locations have included parks, beaches, construction sites, and even libraries. Though Buzi first did this secretly, his identity has since become known. His original idea for this project was to bring people together in a positive way. Buzi hopes to inspire other more fortunate people to do more to give back.

Climate change will cut South Asia’s growth almost 9 percent by the end of the century unless world governments try harder to counter global warming, the Asian Development Bank （ADB） said on Tuesday.

在到英國生活前心裡一度十分忐忑，連著好幾天在誠品、巷弄間二手書店讀著關於英國的語言、文化、美食、氣候與一切相關與不相關的故事。書裡說著英國人是紳士有禮的，即使是氣憤的咒罵仍是優雅的英式英文，無論如何都充滿貴族氣息；書裡說英國受到米其林緞帶的主廚都羞愧地承認，是的是的英國沒有美食；書裡還說了英國陰陰鬱鬱的，因此人也相對地穩重少言。於是我就抱著這樣的忐忑離開台灣，來到愛丁堡，而現在幾個月過去了，覺得自己好像認識透了這個神祕的女孩、卻又覺得好像才剛在咖啡館瞥見她深藍的裙角。

#The secret of old houses #Doors Open Day

我所不知道的是，許多這樣的古老房子就像張愛玲筆下陰鬱神秘的曹七巧，都在不起眼的牆角、壁爐、玄關藏著自己的秘密。現今的Writer’s Museum是1622年建立、1719年Lady Stair為自己購置的房子，兩層樓建築樓梯盤旋卻是狹窄細長，僅容一人迂迴向上，一不小心來訪旅客經常從樓梯層層跌下。仔細一看才知道因為建立當時蘇格蘭與英格蘭仍時常處於戰事之中，愛丁堡為蘇格蘭首都經常首當其衝，因此許多舊房子都有特別幾個階梯高度不相同，具有消極抵禦外侮的能力。宛如余光中《假想敵》所言，房子巍巍百年，你一個陌生人就闖入，活該這樣的階梯絆你一跤。

For one thing, when the Swedish company was founded in 1943, it sold pens, watches, wallets, and nylon stockings, but not one piece of furniture. It wasn’t until five years later that the company began selling furniture. Another surprising fact is that this company, now a multibillion dollar business, was started by a 17-year-old boy. Ingvar Kamprad took the initials of his first and last names and combined them with the first letters of the farm and village where he grew up, Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, to create his company’s name. Over the decades, IKEA has grown enormously by opening up stores around the globe. IKEA’s philosophy is to make both the home and the world a better place to live.
