829南台灣大淹水，讓南部五縣市，都傳災情，今天南台灣五縣市首長，共同召開記者會，都強調治水工程進行到一半，希望中央繼續支援治水經費，也希望治水不分南北。 

雲林、嘉義、台南、高雄、屏東五縣市首長，難得齊聚一堂，力爭中央續編六年六百億治水預算。

會後，記者問到雲林縣長蘇治芬，內政部長李鴻源說，超抽地下水，給六百億治水都不夠，讓雲林縣長蘇治芬開嗆，槓上李鴻源。

另外有人質疑，台南拿了169億經費，卻還淹成這樣，賴清德也要反駁。

南部五縣市首長希望中央繼續提撥治水經費，不要口水，只要治水。

During last week’s tropical storm, the most heavily affected areas were in southern Taiwan. Hamstrung by a rapidly depleting flood management budget, today the leaders of five southern cities and counties gathered to urge the central government to furnish more funds. 

It was a rare site to see the leaders of Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung together. They urged the government to continue providing flood management funding to the tune of NT$60 billion over six years.

After the meeting, reporters mentioned Interior Minister Lee Hong-yuan’s comment that NT$60 billion would not be enough if excessive pumping of groundwater continued. Yunlin County Commissioner Su Chih-fen took offense.

I want to ask the Ministry of the Interior who is in charge of the Regional Plan Act? Who decides the deep wells and the shallow wells that can be used under the act? I hope that regulations can first clearly state jurisprudence over these matters. 

Also under fire is Tainan Mayor William Lai. Tainan received nearly NT$17 billion in funding over the past several years, but it still flooded. Lai defended his administration.

Tainan is home to a third of the nation’s flood warning areas. This is proportional to the amount of funding that Tainan received. It’s how it should be. We welcome anyone – President Ma, Premier Jiang, the heads of central government agencies – to visit Tainan and witness our achievements in the area of flood management.

The message these five local leaders wanted to send out was clear: they want more funding and less talk from the central government.

連日豪雨帶來的問題，還有基隆山壁上一顆體積約800立方米的巨石，物理老師算出，如果巨石掉落，重力加速度，撞擊力道破上萬公斤。為了避免災禍，基隆市府打算以化學藥劑讓巨石崩壞。

大石頭半懸空卡在山腰，而且下方沒有植被緩衝，只要碰上地震或著下場大雨，巨石可能隨時滑落。

逢甲大學地質調查團利用直昇機高空偵測，巨石下方有一棟屋子，距離山腳約150公尺，而200公尺遠處還有速食店，周圍也緊鄰民宅，而這顆石頭在工務處測量下，算出體積約800立方米，最重可達2000噸，要是從山頂滑落，撞擊力道難以想像。

基隆市政府打算用化學的方式，處理這個巨石。

“用所謂的無聲炸藥，其實也就是所謂的一些化學藥劑，它的作用就是說，我把孔打了以後，在裡面填入藥劑，這些藥劑到時候它會膨脹，會把這些石頭撐開，所以大概會利用這樣的做法.

市府目前評估，工務處先上山開路，再讓怪手進入，擊碎巨石底下小石頭，接著才能用化學藥劑讓巨石崩壞，預估約七個工作天才能完成移除。

Two days ago a driver narrowly escaped death when a massive boulder tumbled down a road in northern Taiwan. Another precariously placed boulder in Keelung also appears to be on the verge of descent. Officials in Keelung plan to use chemical injections to break apart the rock and avoid a potential disaster. 

This huge boulder is balancing precipitously high up on the hillside. There is no vegetation below to stop it from falling. Many worry that an earthquake or another round of heavy rains could set this dangerous boulder crashing down.

A Feng Chia University geological survey team used a radio controlled helicopter to investigate the scene and identify a potential path for the boulder. There is a building about 150 meters away from the foot of the mountain, and 200 meters away there is a fast food restaurant, as well as other buildings in the periphery.The Public Works Bureau estimates this boulder is 800 cubic meters in size and could weigh up to 2,000 tons. Should this stone fall from its position up the hill, the impact would be devastating.

The Keelung City government has chosen to use chemicals to break apart the boulder.

We plan to use so-called “silent explosives,” which in fact will be chemical injections. First we drill a hole and inject it with chemical agents, which expand and crack open the stone.

The Public Works Bureau wants to excavate a road up the mountain so a backhoe can enter. It will smash smaller rocks below the boulder to aid in the process of the chemical injections destroying the larger boulder. The task is expected to take a week to complete.

同樣是受到連日豪雨影響，屏東縣來義鄉來義村的東部落，昨天中午發生大崩山，大小土石崩落，一直到今天上午，還有零星落石

紀錄走山實況的村民們紛紛驚聲尖叫，所幸山腳下沒有民宅，因此並沒有傳出人員傷亡。這座山在2009年八八水災、以及隔年的919水災都崩落過，這次已是第3次大山崩。

Consecutive days of torrential rain also caused a major landslide in the Pingtung County township of Laiyi. After the main disaster struck midday Sunday, today rocks and other debris continued to scatter down the mountainside. 

Witnesses who captured footage were excited. Fortunately, no homes were located in the path of the debris and nobody was hurt. This same mountain was the site of landslides during Typhoon Morakot in 2009 and torrential rain and flooding the following year.

您知道除了小麥外，米也能製成麵條嗎? 雲林有一個製麵廠，老闆花了兩年多的時間研發，做出不含麩質的米麵條，而且不用熱水煮，只要放在冷水浸泡四十分鐘就能吃。

把一粒粒白米磨成粉，這些米粉要做的可是麵條。

先把米粉和點水進行攪拌，拌勻後再倒入製成機器中，利用高壓、高溫，百分之百,全米做的麵條就慢慢成型。

最後還要花上六到八個小時吹乾，這就是獨特、少見的米麵條。老闆說，花了兩年多的時間試驗開發，最大的技術突破點，就是如何讓不含麩質的米能夠壓製成麵條。

米麵條跟一般麵條最主要的差別在於，不用熱水煮，只要用冷水泡上四十分鐘後，就能品嚐，它能在發生災難時派上用場。

The owner of a noodle factory in Yunlin spent two years to develop gluten free rice noodles. These noodles can even be cooked simply by soaking in cold water for 40 minutes. 

This rice is ground into a powder before being used to produce rice noodles.

Later, a little water is added to this rice powder and mixed. Then it is placed into this machine, which uses high pressure and high temperate to produce pure rice noodles that slowly emerges from this machine. 

The final process includes six to eight hours of drying, which is unique for rice noodles. The inventor spent more than two years developing these noodles, noting the biggest technological breakthrough involved making gluten free noodles from rice.

We use high pressure along with high temperature to prepare these rice noodles. Their density allows them to become chewier when they are placed into water.

One of the major differences between rice noodles and other noodles is that they don’t need to be boiled. In fact, after soaking for just 40 minutes in water they can be eaten. They can be a useful meal in the event of an emergency.

亞職大賽開打在即，參賽國家在今天陸續抵台，其中最受矚目的莫過於日職總冠軍樂天金鷹中，因為陣中寫下跨季30勝神話的先發投手田中將大，也隨隊來台。

在中職首席顧問郭源治的接待下，樂天監督星野仙一率先走出入境大廳，不過最讓大伙失控是，田中將大。

Tanaka decided at the last minute to come to Taiwan. He kept a smile, despite his surprise at the aggressiveness of local reporters and the passion of Taiwanese fans.

菲律賓災情慘重，我國立即展開人道援助行動，外交部長林永樂說，政府跟民間的捐款及物資，超過400萬美元，另外，100頓的物資，在國防部的協助下，從星期二到星期六，每天兩架次的C-130運輸機送到菲律賓。總統馬英九也說，必要時會派遣軍艦幫忙運送。

菲律賓官員，感謝說不停。滿載台灣民眾捐獻物資的C-130軍機，降落在宿霧機場。雖然台菲沒有邦交，但愛心不分彼此。

Shipments of goods are departing Taiwan daily for the Philippine city of Cebu. The deliveries are just one part of how Taiwan is helping its neighbor following the devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan. 

A Philippine official expresses deep thanks. This C-130 landed at Cebu Airport stocked with supplies donated from Taiwan. The two nations don’t have official diplomatic relations, but Taiwan is still helping in time of need.

為了促進台美雙邊經貿關係，外貿協會與美國亞利桑那州商務廳，簽署合作備忘錄。

外貿協會董事長王志剛表示，將有助台商在美國發展，並且跟美商合作，這也是今年3月以來，台美恢復雙邊「貿易暨投資架構協定」（TIFA）會談後，貿協第3次與美國商務機構簽約合作。

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council, or TAITRA, has signed a cooperation memorandum with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. 

TAITRA Chairman Wang Chih-kang says the pact will help local businesses make inroads into the United States. This is the third cooperation pact TAITRA has signed with a US commercial group since March, when Trade and Investment Framework Agreement talks with the US resumed.

食品大廠-統一集團董事長高清愿昨天宣布交棒；同時間，晶圓代工龍頭-台積電張忠謀也退位CEO。不過，這兩大產業龍頭的世代交替，似乎沒有衝擊到股價。分析師和投資人認為，兩大企業獲利營收可觀，接班佈局早就啟動，因此世代交替，表現都不會太差。

12號台積電董事會，張忠謀宣布退位CEO。雖然這家晶圓代工龍頭，未來交由劉德音、魏哲家兩位執行長雙人共治，但張忠謀一句「還是會管事」，卻讓法人投資人，吃了定心丸。

雖然國際半導體市場發展趨緩，使台積電的股價今天下跌約2%，不過，權值股、法人照樣買單，當然是看準光今年1到10月，台積電營收就上看5030億，比去年成長18.27%！而且張忠謀接班佈局，其實老早準備好。

而同樣宣布改朝換代的食品大廠-統一集團，受惠「統一超商」、「統一實業」獲利大躍進，累計前三季合併營收達3255億，比去年同期成長5.4%。單季及累計營收都創歷史高點下，即使高清愿交棒，對股價也沒太大影響。

像統一那個(董事長高清愿)已經早就，稍微有在退居幕後了，都可以看得出來，所以你看它股價表現也還好，因為它們每年的獲利都很穩定。

雖然近期投信持續站在賣方，但外資是「買多、賣少」，投資人也看好統一後續營收。

Investors concentrated mostly on prospects for future growth when trading shares in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and Uni-President Enterprises Corp. today. Both companies announced major management reshuffles on Tuesday, though the changes were expected and had little effect on prices. 

On Tuesday TSMC Chairman Morris Chang announced he will relinquish his role as CEO. Taking over as co-CEOs will be Mark Liu and C. C. Wei, though Chang also said he will remain as an active chairman, providing relief to investors.

TSMC shares dropped about 2 percent today, though the decline had more to do with a slowdown in the global semiconductor business than the leadership changes. There is much reason for optimism in TSMC: it’s heavily weighted, revenues between January and October exceeded NT$500 billion, nearly a fifth higher than the same period last year. And the company has been preparing for Chang’s gradual exit.

The most important reason is that TSMC was already on this path. Institutional investors not only want to see who the chairperson is that is leading this company. They want to know whether the company can continue growing into a leader in this industry.

On the same day, food manufacturer Uni-President Group announced its own leadership change. Strong performances from two of its units – President Chain Store Corp. and Ton Yi Industrial Corp. – brought its revenues over the first three quarters to NT$325 billion, growth of more than 5 percent. After the group set records in single quarter and accumulated revenues, investors didn’t sell-off on news of Kao Chin-yen stepped down as chairman.

The Uni-President (chairman) was already stepping into the background. It was clear as day. So you can see the share price is good because every year their profits are stable.

In the short-term many investment trusts are taking a sell position on Uni-President, though foreign institutional investors are increasing their stake in the company. They have high hopes for strong future revenues.

澎湖馬公今天有一場燒王船儀式，這個習俗源於早期為了「趕走瘟疫」，演變至現代成了地方民間信仰，祈求平安的重要活動。

裝飾LED燈，還會噴出火焰的各式武轎，在送王前一天晚間進行遶境，由於是地方宗教大事，不少信徒熱情參與。

為了送王，馬公的西衛已經足足熱鬧兩個月，有傳統的陣頭，也有現代的辣妹鋼管，廟方說，這段期間，信徒很感謝王爺的庇祐。

今天是送王儀式的最高潮，要燒王船。長長的隊伍一路送到海邊，油罐車澆上汽油，原本要陪載的雞和豬以及羊，也象徵性的帶到現場後當場放生，隨後就是燒王船。

燒一次王船，總計花了一千多萬的經費，就希望祈安降福。

Penghu celebrated the burning of the Wang Yeh boat this evening. Tonight we take a look at this popular folk festival. 

This sedan chair is decked in LED lights and can even spit out fire. One evening before the burning of the Wang Yeh boat, it was carried around the village in the company of passionate worshippers.

Celebrations have taken place over the past two months in Xiwei Village, Magong. Traditional marchers were joined by modern pole dancers. Participants want to thank the Wang Yeh deities for their protection.

Funding for the ceremony ran upwards of NT$10 million. If it brings peace and prosperity to this village, the money was well spent.

大導演李安第一次擔任金馬獎評審，昨天才回台灣，為了決審，一天要看4部入圍電影，他坦言首度當評審主席，壓力其實不小。

金馬獎邁入第50屆，今年在評審團決審工作結束前，舉行記者會，評審團主席，也是首度擔任金馬獎評審的大導演李安。

For the first time, acclaimed Oscar-winning director Ang Lee is serving as chairman of the jury for the Golden Horse Awards. After arriving in Taiwan, he says he has been watching four films a day and admits that chairing this jury is no easy feat. 

The Golden Horse Awards is celebrating its 50th anniversary. A treat this year is that the celebrated director Ang Lee is heading the festival’s jury.

在美日職棒拿下201勝，外號龍捲風的日籍退役強投野茂英雄，今天和日職球星陽岱剛，一起到青棒訓練營授課。日前接受民視獨家專訪，野茂認為，台灣的棒球實力不輸給日本。

詭異的投球姿勢，和犀利無比的指叉球，伴隨著對手的揮棒落空，這就是野茂英雄給大家的印象，曾經在美國大聯盟和日本職棒拿下201的昔日強投，這次來台，抽空看了中日經典棒球對抗賽，對台灣年輕球員的實力給予高度肯定。

Hideo Nomo, a retired pitcher who starred in both Japan and the major leagues, is in Taiwan to participate in an elite youth baseball camp. The baseball legend says that young Taiwanese players compare favorably to their counterparts in Japan. 

Nomo was known for his distinctive “tornado” style delivery along with a fork ball that often eluded batters. His storied professional career in Japan and the US included a total of 201 wins. His visit to Taiwan coincides with the Japan vs. Taiwan Baseball Challenge, and at the event he gave high marks to Taiwan’s young baseball players.

My initial impression is that Taiwan’s baseball skill is good and the hitting strong. My time here is short, so I can’t tell the difference between the two sides. But I can say that Taiwan’s level of play is not inferior to Japan.

Nomo came to Taiwan in 1997 to participate in a youth baseball camp. He was impressed by a number of promising young players, some of whom would go on to flourish in the major leagues, such as Wang Chien-ming and Tsao Chin-hui.

I came to Taiwan to participate in this baseball camp so that over the next 16 years I can see more players move to the next level.

After retiring from professional baseball, Nomo continues to keep himself involved in the sport. Helping him on this trip is Yang Dai-kang, a Taiwanese player in Japan’s professional leagues. The two are working hard to encourage and train the next generation of star players.

在美日職棒拿下201勝，外號龍捲風的日籍退役強投野茂英雄，今天和日職球星陽岱剛，一起到青棒訓練營授課。日前接受民視獨家專訪，野茂認為，台灣的棒球實力不輸給日本。

詭異的投球姿勢，和犀利無比的指叉球，伴隨著對手的揮棒落空，這就是野茂英雄給大家的印象，曾經在美國大聯盟和日本職棒拿下201的昔日強投，這次來台，抽空看了中日經典棒球對抗賽，對台灣年輕球員的實力給予高度肯定。

“我印象中台灣棒球實力很好，打擊也很強，但我待在這裡的時間太短，所以沒看出兩邊更多的差異，雖然現在不能比較這差異，但台灣的水準是不輸給日本的

野茂英雄在1997年前曾經來台參加棒球訓練營，當年就有好幾位年輕的青棒球員，就讓野茂印象深刻，包括之後也都踏上大聯盟的舞台的王建民和曹錦輝。

野茂英雄然已經退休，但不間斷的貢獻所學，今天野茂英雄也和陽岱鋼一起參加為台灣青棒球員舉辦的訓練營，鼓勵他們努力朝著目標勇往邁進。

Hideo Nomo, a retired pitcher who starred in both Japan and the major leagues, is in Taiwan to participate in an elite youth baseball camp. The baseball legend says that young Taiwanese players compare favorably to their counterparts in Japan. 

Nomo was known for his distinctive “tornado” style delivery along with a fork ball that often eluded batters. His storied professional career in Japan and the US included a total of 201 wins. His visit to Taiwan coincides with the Japan vs. Taiwan Baseball Challenge, and at the event he gave high marks to Taiwan’s young baseball players.

My initial impression is that Taiwan’s baseball skill is good and the hitting strong. My time here is short, so I can’t tell the difference between the two sides. But I can say that Taiwan’s level of play is not inferior to Japan.

Nomo came to Taiwan in 1997 to participate in a youth baseball camp. He was impressed by a number of promising young players, some of whom would go on to flourish in the major leagues, such as Wang Chien-ming and Tsao Chin-hui.

After retiring from professional baseball, Nomo continues to keep himself involved in the sport. Helping him on this trip is Yang Dai-kang, a Taiwanese player in Japan’s professional leagues. The two are working hard to encourage and train the next generation of star players.

亞洲職棒大賽本週五將在台中洲際球場盛大開幕，日本職棒總冠軍樂天金鷹，今天確定陣中田中將大與則本昂大等兩大王牌先發，都會來台。為了迎接各國精英棒球員，主辦的中華職棒聯盟精心策劃了開幕表演，總計有500人參與。

亞洲職棒大賽禮拜五就要在台中洲際棒球場開打，負責開幕的表演團隊加緊腳步練習。

除了極具民俗色彩的古典舞蹈，還有音樂功夫秀，透過精心編曲，讓國際賽會上很難出現國歌旋律，另類呈現。

大會賣關子不給曝光的，還有國內少見的Marching Band，軍樂隊表演。

開幕當天，表演團隊人數高達500人。

Excitement is growing for the upcoming Asia Series. Fans may get a chance to see ace pitchers Masahiro Tanaka and Takahiro Norimoto, after the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles announced the pair will be included on the team’s 28-man roster. Also taking place will be one of the largest opening performances ever seen at a sporting event in Taiwan. 

The countdown is on for the start of the Asia Series, to be held starting Friday at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium. Getting ready here is the performance squad. 

Their traditional dance has an ethnic flavor, and they have prepared a show that blends music and kung fu. A carefully crafted arrangement of songs means the melody from Taiwan’s national anthem will have a rare chance to be heard at an international sporting event.

One part of the show that is being kept under wraps is the military marching band.

味全旗下三款飲料，被拿來當成"救命仙丹"，全國性通路和超商，將分別從這個月中旬起，一連十天買一送一，明年二月甚至加碼埔心農場門票五折優惠，但這樣的補償方式，消費者興趣缺缺。

實際到賣場逛一圈，味全在假油風暴後，生意已經掉了好幾成，因此他們的產品，早已掛上優惠海報，三項商品也早就長期在買一送一。消基會，也對這樣的賠償機制，出面斥責。

“目前的賠償方案，?的跟受害者之間的賠償是不相關聯的，台北市消保官如果就這樣接受了味全的賠償機制的話，我們會認為消保官有點失職了”

畢竟味全這麼大一個老牌子出包，對民眾所釀成的傷害，豈能是用買一送一的優惠來彌補的。

After selling cheap oils labeled as higher grade products, Wei Chuan Foods faces the difficult task of winning back consumer trust. One step it is taking – offering a 10-day buy one get one free deal on select drinks – has failed to impress consumer protection officials. 

Wei Chuan Foods hopes that a buy one get one free promotion on three popular drinks will help rescue the company from tumbling fortunes. This offer will be available through all domestic channels and convenience stores beginning in mid-November and lasting for 10 days. And in February of next year, the company will offer 50 percent off admission for its Pushin Ranch. Unfortunately, promotions so far have only elicited a lackluster response.

“If there are more problems with compensation, then it will all be in vain.”

Walking around this hypermarket, one can see that Wei Chuan’s business has dropped dramatically since the edible oil scandal. A number of promotional posters were put up long ago offering “buy one get one free” for its three flagship drinks. The Consumers’ Foundation also feels the promotions are misguided.

Their compensation offer is unrelated to those who have been harmed. If Taipei’s Consumer Protection Office thinks this is acceptable compensation then we will think it neglected its duties.

由於在麵裡，添加銅葉綠素鈉是違法的，日前南僑旗下蕎麥麵卻被查獲違法添加, 現在風波越演越烈, 因為上游供貨商統園表示, 早就告知下游, 要把天然葉綠素改成銅葉綠素納, 檢方懷疑南僑早就知情, 昨天展開搜索和約談, 訊後,包括南僑副總裁等高層兩人以百萬元交保, 另外, 統一生機生產的統一生機明日葉精力湯, 也因為使用統園的銅葉綠素納, 被開罰二十萬元。

桃園地檢署一整夜燈火通明, 因為檢方搜索南僑化工中壢廠, 台北總公司, 帶回副總裁李堪文, 急凍熟麵部總經理周明芬及中壢廠廠長紀俊男等共十一人,訊後李堪文、周明芬、紀俊男被交保。

這次行動是因為檢方發現,供應南僑銅葉綠素納的上游廠商統園公司, 早在民國九十九年就已經告知下游廠商, 他們所販賣的天然葉綠素就是銅葉綠素納，南橋疑似知情不報，副總裁李堪文訊後，並未做出正面回應。

銅葉綠素納風波沒完沒了, 桃園縣衛生局這一追, 追出了統一標示不實。雖然銅葉綠素加在飲品裡並不違法，但統一旗下的「統一生機明日葉精力湯」，添加銅葉綠素鈉，包裝卻是標示為天然葉綠素。

此外，統一旗下號稱專門販售天然有機食品的”聖德科斯”， 也有四款精力湯因為標示天然葉綠素不實, 自行下架。

Uni-President became involved in the recent food scandal after its units added the chemical sodium copper chlorophyllin to soups then labeled it as natural chlorophyll. It is being investigated along with Namchow Chemical Industrial, another downstream company that received the additive from the upstream supplier Toong Yuean Enterprise. 

Taoyuan prosecutors worked day and night yesterday. First they searched the Jungli factory of Namchow Chemical Industrial, along with the company’s Taipei headquarters. Next they questioned 11 employees into the night, later releasing three on bail: Lee Kan-wen, the company vice president, Chou Ming-fen, the general manager of the frozen noodles division, and Ji Jun-nan, the head of the Jungli factory.

The investigation came after the supplier Toong Yuean Enterprise said that in 2010 it told downstream companies that its natural chlorophyll was actually sodium copper chlorophyllin. Namchow stands accused of being aware of this violation but not reporting it; after questioning the vice president wouldn’t tell reporters anything.

The Taoyuan Public Health Bureau also found that Uni-President Organics division uses sodium copper chlorophyllin in one of its soup products. The additive is allowed in soups, but Uni-President didn’t include it on its label.

They add sodium copper chlorophyllin to their ashitaba soup, but on the package is written natural chlorophyll. For this clear violation of Article 28 of the Act Governing Food Sanitation, we gave a stiff fine of NT$200,000.

Four soup products sold by the Uni-President health food subsidiary Santa Cruz also contain sodium copper chlorophyllin but are labeled as containing natural chlorophyll. These were removed from the shelves.

台灣的第一場比賽亞職賽，由義大犀牛隊在星期五晚上，對戰日本職棒總冠軍樂天金鷹，義大已經決定派出洋將尼克先發，將對上樂天金鷹的辛島航，至於義大第二場對澳洲的比賽，則由另一名洋將馬克把關，在亞職熱身表現不錯的陽建福，則在牛棚待命後援。

第一年成軍的義大犀牛，就打進亞洲職棒大賽，而且要替台灣打頭陣，第一場比賽碰上強敵樂天金鷹，將由例行賽自責分率3.69的洋將尼克先發。

第二場對上澳洲職棒冠軍，坎培拉騎兵隊，將派出實力更好狀況更穩定洋將馬克，馬克例行賽自責分率2.77，他總冠軍賽是第一戰和第四戰的先發投手，都投得非常精采，分別是六局失兩分和七局失一分，只可惜都無關勝敗。

除了兩個洋將之外，在亞職熱身賽表現不錯的陽建福，將在牛棚待命，如果先發投手出狀況，可以擔任救火隊。

義大比較令人擔心的還是牛棚的後援投手，終結者強克在九月中以後的例行賽表現不佳。此外傷兵也是一大困擾，主力鄭達鴻、張建銘與林琨笙確定缺席，中心打者胡金龍也有傷，能否上場還是未知數。

Taiwan’s first game in the Asia Series, set for Friday in Taichung, will pit the EDA Rhinos against the Japanese champion Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. The Rhinos will send American pitcher Nick Green to the mound while the Eagles will hand the ball over to Karashima Wataru. 

In just their first year, the EDA Rhinos have earned the honor of representing Taiwan in the upcoming Asia Series. In the Rhino’s first game, they will take on the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. The Rhinos will start Nick Green, who had a regular season ERA of 3.69.

The Rhinos will then play the Australian professional league champions, Canberra Cavalry. Another American pitcher will start this game: Matt Torra, who had a regular season ERA of 2.77. He had strong outings as a starting pitcher in the Taiwan Series. He gave up just two runs in six innings in the first game and one run in seven innings in the fourth game, though both outings led to a no decision. 

Aside from these foreign pitchers, Yang Chien-fu, who performed well in warm-up games, will be in the bullpen, coming on in relief should either of these starters run into trouble.

The Rhino’s biggest worry will be the back end of their bullpen, with closer Juan Bautista Morillo struggling since mid-September. Also, a number of injuries have plagued the team, with Johnny Dahon, Chang Chien-ming, and Lin Kun-sheng all expected to sit. Hu Chin-lung is also battling injury, and his status is unclear.

氣溫驟降8度，外頭天氣冷颼颼，氣象局表示受到東北季風影響，溫度將持續下探，也讓百貨周年慶買氣熱鬧滾滾，消費者狂掃冬被、外套、雨靴等保暖商品，也讓百貨周年慶業績，大幅成長。

The abrupt change in temperature felt today led shoppers to crowd into department stores. They bought everything from winter apparel to blankets in preparation for the arrival of winter. 

The cold weather felt on Taipei’s streets is only made chillier by the light showers. It is a significant change from the warm weather yesterday. And it boosted sales of winter items today at department stores.

More than a thousand people crowded into this department store to take advantage of limited offer sales: duvets for about three-quarters off and waterproof boots for 60 percent off. Shoppers are purchasing coats and other items to keep warm.

台灣有在農曆年時，在寺廟點光明燈的習俗，熱門的寺廟包括台北市萬華龍山寺，上週四起就有民眾來排隊等著要點12月底才要開放的光明燈大燈，龍山寺緊急公告今年要取消大燈。

龍山寺的清潔人員動手撕膠布，這是民眾為了排隊點光明燈，在膠布寫號碼佔位子，還有椅子、寶特瓶，通通遭撤走，引發民眾不滿。

有人排隊才貼出公告，說要取消大燈，更換發號碼牌的地點，排隊民眾成了冤大頭，甚至還傳出龍山寺潑水趕人。

龍山寺的大燈太搶手，年年引發排隊亂象，現在公告取消大燈，雖然時機點有爭議，但主管機關持正面的態度。

去年龍山寺有12萬盞光明燈小燈，1萬盞大燈，今年雖然取消大燈，但會大幅增加6萬盞小燈，反而將多賺1600萬。

Taipei’s Lungshan Temple is trying to put an end to the long lines of people waiting to sponsor temple lights for the Lunar New Year. It hopes to quell this large crowd of devotees by ending the sponsorship of large lights. 

Taipei’s Lungshan Temple has announced it will end the annual blight of people queuing in line for the chance to sponsor large temple lights. In past years, many have staked their place in line by using chairs, stools, and PET bottles. This unsightly mess has drawn much public criticism.

“If you announced it in advance, we wouldn’t have waited in line.”

Some people had already begun queuing and assigning their own numbers before a notice was put up by the temple saying it was ending the sponsorship of large lights and potentially changing the location to wait to sponsor smaller lights. There were even reports that cleaning crews were using water to chase people away from where the line had formed.

“At 9 o’clock in the morning, someone came to clean and spray water like we were vagrants.”

Heavy demand for large temple lights at Lungshan Temple annually leads to chaos in this in line. Now that a notice has been posted cancelling the sponsorship of large lights, some are upset about the timing, though authorities believe it will have a positive impact.

Last year, Lungshan Temple offered people the chance to sponsor 120,000 small lights and 10,000 large lights. Now that it is ending the sponsorship of large lights, it will add 60,000 small lights, potentially earning an additional NT$16 million.

民視轉播團隊，這回特地和逢甲大學地理資訊系統研究中心合作，利用這個一套要價至少50多萬的飛行載具，空拍棒球場內的畫面，靠著德國進口的主控台系統，可操控上升下降，360度的移動。

加上自行研發的軟體，亞職比賽時，飛行載具更要以LIVE方式，零時差把現場空拍畫面播給大家看，此外民視轉播團隊還引進媲美大聯盟等級的3D技術，就是要讓電視機前的觀眾，親臨現場的感受。

The Asia Series, pitting top professional baseball teams in the region, begins on Friday. Preparations are underway with the broadcaster, FTV, to use cutting edge aerial and HD camera technology. 

This baseball broadcast will not only be in HD but will include special high speed cameras which are now essential for sporting events. The international attention drawn to the Asia Series is pushing this broadcaster to implement the latest technology.

The biggest advantage is smooth shooting ability, and it can be lifted high into the air safely. It is quite light, so it is suitable for obtaining aerial shots at large scale sports events and in densely populated areas.

FTV’s broadcast team is working with the Geographic Information System Research Center of Feng Chia University to use this unmanned aerial vehicle to capture images of the baseball stadium. Costing more than half a million NT dollars, the vehicle uses a control system imported from Germany to manage everything from height to 360 degree camera angles.

This aerial camera technology coupled with self-developed software will create exciting real-time images for the Asia Games broadcast. In addition, FTV’s broadcast team will also introduce 3D-like technology comparable to major leagues broadcasts, enhancing the experience of all viewers.
