Trainers will need to examine Baltimore Orioles’ pitcher Chen Wei-yin to determine if he suffered a cramp or a right oblique strain. The former would mean Chen could make his next start, the latter a trip to the DL and significant time missed. Before feeling pain in his oblique area Chen had a strong outing against the Minnesota Twins, throwing 73 pitches over five scoreless innings.
The day started off well for Chen. Before taking the mound, Orioles first baseman Chris Davis staked him a lead.
In each of the first three innings the Orioles scored. Adam Jones sent this ball into the stands.
Despite giving up five hits, Chen always found his way out of trouble.
Chen went five scoreless innings, before pain put a damper on what was a good outing. After suffering what could be a right oblique strain, Chen was pulled. Four pitchers in the Orioles bullpen then combined for four shutout innings.
The Orioles beat the Twins 6-0. Chen earned his third win of the season.
