晶片溶於水

為了解決現代手機等3C廢棄物造成的環保問題,美國大學教授正在研發一種可以自動在水中分解的晶片,希望未來可以解決3C垃圾的問題。 

各種電子產品都需要用到的晶片,竟然就在眼前消失不見。

“舊手機怎麼辦,是個垃圾處理問題,若能讓手機內部自然消失或溶解於水,那就太棒了”

這就是美國伊利諾大學、正在研發,由天然纖維製成的晶片,希望能夠用來解決3C產品快速淘汰而產生的垃圾問題。

伊利諾大學強調,類似這種短命晶片的裝置,未來可以透過相當精準的控制技術製造,也可以針對特定產品強化設計。

American researchers are searching for a better way to dispose of mobile phones and other 3C products. Among the promising developments is an IC chip that naturally decomposes in water, a technology that could reduce the growing amounts of electronic waste. 

A wide variety of electronic products rely upon IC chips that can now disappear right before our very eyes.

What happens to your old cell phone? It’s a waste disposal problem. So if one could construct the guts of a cell phone so that it would naturally disappear, or dissolve in groundwater in an environmentally benign way, that would be beneficial. 

Researchers at the University of Illinois have developed an IC chip that is made from natural fibers, potentially ending the mounting problem of 3C waste disposal.

It’s also going to have a positive environmental impact because you are not going to have a lot of toxic waste associated with discarded consumer devices.

Professor John Rogers said that these chips are suitable for devices with a short life span and can be custom made for a variety of products.
