Nowadays, many people are in the habit of posting photos of the delicious meals they order in restaurants. However, in France, this activity is frown upon with some restaurants expressly prohibiting such behavior with a warning on the menu.

When this delicious looking French food is sent to the table, the immediate response by some diners is grab their cameras and begin taking photos.

When the food is served and it’s quite beautiful, I feel the urge to snap a picture which is like a souvenir.

One can also instantly share these images with friends on the internet as well as going home to compose a blog post. Some restaurants in France prohibit diners from taking pictures, as they consider the practice quite rude. And the difficulty of getting a good food photo with a crude cell phone camera has some menus carry a warning stating “no photos.”

One Taiwan chef doesn’t agree with this prohibition.

We are okay with this practice because it doesn’t harm anyone. And if you made this food look attractive, guests will want to take a picture. If they don’t think it’s attractive and doesn’t impress them, they might not care (about taking a photo).

While some support diner’s right to take food photos in restaurants, others oppose it as everyone should pay attention to notices on restaurant menus to prevent themselves from becoming publicly embarrassed.
