The canyon itself is estimated to be six million to 70 million years old. According to some geologists, the Colorado River has been carving through the canyon for the past six million years.
Theodore Roosevelt, America’s 26th president and an outdoorsman, was a big supporter of making the Grand Canyon a national park back in 1903. Since then, the canyon, along with its surrounding park, has received more than five million visitors per year.

Ice hockey is a popular winter sport in many northern countries. The game as it is today was invented in the late 1800s in Canada. Hockey players wore ice skates to play on ice. They used curved sticks to hit a black rubber puck into nets to score goals. It is a contact sport, so players are allowed to hit each other in certain ways. Fighting is not allowed, but it does happen from time to time. Because the players skate on ice, they move back and forth very quickly, which has earned the sport the nickname “the fastest game on Earth.”

The hardest thing for a guide dog is to focus and not get distracted while working. After all, dogs love to sniff out all the smells around them and chase other animals. Guide dogs are not even allowed to bark while they are working. That is why potential guide dogs start their training when they are 18 months old. They are first put through a four-month course with a sighted instructor. If the dogs pass this phase, they are teamed up with a blind person for about another month before they are totally qualified.
