墾丁國家公園管理處的梅花鹿復育站，今年剛好滿三十年，從最早五隻雄鹿、十七隻雌鹿開始，到現在已經有大約一千七百頭梅花鹿。

梅花鹿遭到過度捕捉，一度在台灣消聲匿跡，復育站利用半圈養的方式，讓馴化的梅花鹿重拾野外求生本能。由於每天只限制100人進入，讓生態沒有受到破壞，梅花鹿的繁殖，也更加順利。

Sika Deer Success (2014/01/23)

2014 is the 30th anniversary of Kenting National Park’s project to restore the Formosan sika deer population. Starting with five bucks and 17 does, the species’ population in the park has now grown to more than 1,700 deer. 

Once on the verge of extinction because of overhunting, the Formosan sika deer has made a comeback at the park’s Sika Deer Restoration Station. The station’s semi-captive breeding program helps the deer regain their survival instincts, making it easier for them to adapt to the wild.
