澎湖玄武岩舉世聞名，各島嶼展現不同美感，鬼斧神工，常讓遊客流連忘返，其中五處美景，更進入農委會舉辦的台灣十大美景競選前四十一名，希望能搶攻最後十強。

馬公離島的桶盤嶼，優美奇特的柱狀玄武岩景點，總是讓國內外觀光客驚歎不已。甚至有人將它和美國的黃石公園相提並論。

除了桶盤嶼之外，其他四個景點，也入圍台灣十大的前四十一名。

澎湖縣府，希望能藉此活動，讓更多人能認識澎湖地景之美。

Penghu’s basalt formations are world famous, attracting acclaim for their unique geographic formations. Now, many of these locations have become finalists in a best scenery competition sponsored by the Council of Agriculture. 

Makung’s Tongpan Geology Park is known for its remarkable columnar basalt formations. Many foreign tourists who visit the location compare it to Yellowstone National Park in the US.

Most of Penghu’s columnar basalt formations were formed more than 17 million years ago. Penghu is not a big place, but it has a variety of different landscapes featuring columnar jointed basalt.

In addition to Tongpan Island, four other popular locations were all voted to be among the top 41 finalists for Taiwan's top 10 scenic attractions.
